Please be aware of Scammers

Wednesday 22nd of February

It's a sad reality that there are scammers among us. You only need to read the papers to see the depths people will go to steal from others. NOTE: If you are a scammer then read this too. There have been a few people on the site that list free things; iPads, Laptops, Puppy Dogs - and then ask for postage. It's probably safest to not send postage unless you are sure of the person you are ... Read More

The importance of great manners

Monday 16th of January

Having good manners makes the world a better place for all of us. Please remember that if you're asking for something that someone is giving away you really need to say 'Please' and 'Thank you' and show some appreciation. After all this person has paid for something and then gone to the trouble of listing it, making time to meet, replying to messages. They do this because sure, they want to de-clutter, but often they want ... Read More

Please try to be nice

Tuesday 26th of April

Hello everyone We've had a number of listings that generated a large number of complaints. When we get complaints about a listing we remove it. This way the community decides how the site should best work. Usually we will email the member and point out we've had complaints and let them know that we removed the listings. We also ask if they can refrain from adding more listings like this in future. We're very polite and ... Read More

Email is now fixed

Wednesday 24th of February

We had a problem with our email system over the last couple of weeks. This meant that signups and lost password emails weren't sent. It also meant you didn't get an email when someone Commented, Asked A Question or Offered Something. Highly annoying and apologies for this. It's now resolved. The AskShareGive email address to the administrator also hasn't been working so we will sort this shortly. Thanks for your patience... Guy Bibby

AskShareGive is Going Global

Saturday 21st of June

When we came up with the idea of AskShareGive we had no idea whether it would work. Maybe people would take and never give. Or maybe there would be trolls pretending to be someone they weren't. Maybe people would try it once and never come back. We're delighted that, thanks to amazing and generous people, the site is going strong 2 years later. Thank you. People tell us that it has changed their lives. Changed the way ... Read More

Reminising about a by gone era

Monday 29th of July

When I was a child no one had heard of the word upcycling however most of us did this without realising every day. We utilized what we had on hand and improvised where we could, creating things we needed out of old - because a trip to the shops was not imminent, money was scarce and if you needed one you first tried to improvise. I grew up near my grandfather who was extremely clever ... Read More

Self-compassion and the link to self-esteem

Thursday 23rd of May

When something has gone wrong, when there’s been a mistake made, no matter how small, many people are all too quick to point the finger — at themselves. They flog themselves for any failure, letting their self-esteem bend and bow at the face of disappointments and triumphs. For many their self-esteem is shaky and studies have also shown that self-criticism can lead to anxiety and depression. However there’s something you can build that’s more substantial ... Read More
