Donated wool helps our Peggy Purl volunteers. We volunteer and knit baby blankets for local families. Some people are experts and others are there to learn how to knit. We meet weekly at our local community group. So far scores of our blankets have been donated to local families. " Locals helping locals" -primarily to new born babies (and seniors) .
Peggy Purl as a concept are known to many New Zealanders. Peggy was a young girl who, in the depression era, began this idea of knitting small squares and then joining them in to blankets for those in need. We are fortunate to have Peggy's daughter Adair helping us in our efforts.
There are many groups but ours meets on the first Friday of every month 12.30-2.30pm at the Beach Haven Community House. Novices and experts welcomed and needed!
If you are on the North Shore I am happy to come and collect what you may have to donate or alternately I am happy to pay postage from areas around NZ to us?
